The Heart & the Mind-3

“The fact that you love  
The fact that you beat
Your optimism through it all
That makes you special,
And so different from me.”
Heart listened as Brain spoke,
And got familiar with her new beat
And then she finally opened up to admit:
“Brain, you really did warn me.”
Brain nodded her head
She only wanted Heart to see…
“If I come off harshly
Please forgive me…
But I’m here to protect you
And to protect me.
I am at the Crown,
That is the head
You are at the chest.
I am a being of practicality,
Of logic
And of common sense.”
Heart saw their differences…
And she did agree.
Then found her voice again to speak:
“Brain… I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
I always do latch on so quickly.”
Brain felt pity.  
“Give yourself a little grace…
But just don’t skip accountability…
To love someone,  
That task was assigned to you from someone greater than you and me…
Your mistake is unlocking yourself  
And then handing away the key.”
 
Heart felt ashamed…
She felt her truth being told…
“Maybe I should close for a while
I’m sore from being exposed.”
Brain pondered the thought  
Then she spoke again.  
“All logic & no heart…
That’s no place for a woman.
It’s the opposite of feminine,
You and I must coexist.
You and I?
We just a little need balance.”
 
Heart agreed with this.
So they did a handshake on the subject.
Brain was content.
And Heart decided she wouldn’t change because of this.
She finally made the choice to walk alongside Brain’s Logic.
