Her Eyes Were Watching - By Nizana's Daughter

Her eyes looked out from the wedding picture. They were happy eyes  
from a newfound face of hope for her life and her son.
She’d given up on love until he swept her up  
just as he'd captured me this night.  
 
Her eyes followed as I showered and dressed.  
I knew that she'd seen our bodies melding into one.
Looking in the mirror, I blushed and felt heat rise across my face.  
Had she seen the pearl droplet on my cheek that should have been hers?
