My Friends Are Those I Lean Upon
My friends are those I lean upon
when darkness covers me.
Where once I walked in loneliness,
close friends now walk as three.
Each of us carries a sadness.
Each of us has learned to lose.
But now we share the grace of life
knowing joy is ours to choose.

Mother made me happy by sending this poem and photo. I've blurred her friends since they're sharing in recovery. My pretty mom's in the middle of course.

I think we often take for granted how much we need other people in this life, how much of everything we have, and everything we are, is provided by others, and how much we are part of them, and they of us. I love how it acknowledges loss, but chooses appreciation. Thank you for sharing this with us.
