New year, same me
New year, same me
Only difference is that I am coming into who I am meant to be
Still the same black girl
Dreaming of taking this world by a whirl
New year, same me
Just building and seeking true peace
Not letting the world break me, piece by piece
New year, same me
The year 2022 is gone, but when you add one year, you get 2023
A whole new year that is filled of curiosity and facing the unknown
Taking charge of a new beginnings and to be bestowed your rightful crown
New year, same me
When it comes to my physical being
I would not change a damn thing
I was molded with the finest of hands and clay
God put breath in my body to allow me to let all my talents be on display
New year, same me
The world may have gravity, but some of its inhabitants sure wreak of utter depravity
We must be the change that we seek
Not letting the big wigs play on the intelligence of the weak
New year, same me
First name Libra, who is the seventh sign planted on the zodiac tree
Still walking with my soul in tact
Regardless of the trauma and pain that truly had me going to hell and back
I wiped away my own tears and did a damn good job hiding my fears
I say to hell with the saying new year, new me
To get to that new you, you have to work on that same you to get there
What I mean by that is face your demons head on and finally put to rest the things that do you no good at this moment
It takes time to change, but that process will be a fulfilling one
So, new year, same me
Cheers to you and me becoming who we desire to be
Only difference is that I am coming into who I am meant to be
Still the same black girl
Dreaming of taking this world by a whirl
