Electricity Bridge
The fire in my fingers
waits to scream
to overpower silence
and pull me away
from the space I keep for you
Time stacked memories
ebb and flow
their ditchwater taints
the purest mountain stream
Out by electricity bridge
soft and hard
soft and hard
our stars fused
always and forever
as the freight cars tumbled
through the night
and the lights of the Delta glowed
But the child you never bore
and the flute you never played
outshone it all
and if we let them
weeds we planted in our hearts
still grow
tall
