Obesity

The menu offers...
good pain or bad pain
grilled rare, medium, or well done
and you think, wtf
can I have 'no pain' please,
sorry, that's not on the menu
but we have a nice vintage of 'regret'
with mouth watering overtones of denial.
So I gorge myself, getting fat on sin
the obesity of my soul
weighs heaviest in the dawn
memories that time forgot
innocence and love
how they haunt at break of day
as I begin anew eating my transgressions
