I Wonder



I wonder why I am here.
What reason brought me to this place
and I wonder if I will see my home again.

I wonder if this is my true home.
Perhaps all there ever was and what
I yearn for has only been some fantasy.

I want to believe those days were real
and these with you are what is the dream
but I do not know.

I wonder if you even know why you have me here.
As I look at you smiling at me I wonder if you are
just as lost inside yourself.

I wonder why you have imprisoned me
if you love me as your smiles try to say.

Sometimes I wonder, when I hear you
say that I look so sad why that is so difficult
for you to understand.

I believe you would be sad too
if you were taken from home
and shut in a cage left to wonder.

But what do I know.
I am just an ape.
