Note to her father
Man to man,
You really messed up
Broke this heart that now
I’m left to heal…
My girls so broken,
She’s so effected by little “nothings”
For her, everything’s a big deal.
You really fucked up,
No matter what,
It’s like my love not enough…
no matter what I show her,
She’s too hurt to believe it
And she lets it roll off of her shoulder.
You dropped that ball,
And chose to miss her life,
Chose to reject your our daughter,
…now she’s broken inside,
And when I look at her
She tries her best to hide…
But I can still see it:
All of the sadness behind her eyes.
You made her believe no one could love her,
So she can’t believe me;
And all I want to do is make it better…
But her hurt is just so deep.
It’s too much for just me to ease,
So I sit and allow her to take it out on me…
…sometimes it’s hard not to leave,
Her sadness comes in waves,
And sometimes it feels like it’s because of me.
Maybe I’m a trigger:
Since you weren’t there,
My presence makes her uncomfortable…
She thinks she’s not good enough…
And that’s because her hearts been Broken by the man who should have been her first love.
And all I want is to keep her sane
If only she could relax enough.
Her smile: worth it all.
Her heart: the purest of all…
Her anger: deep under her skin,
Seeping down to her bones…
And unfortunately,
it never fails that into depression she falls.
I try to stick to the vow,
That I’d lift her back up
Because she feels so down.
I try to correct your mess,
Bring her back out of her head from the day you left.
The day you set her up for doom,
And left her open,
Vulnerable to men not too different from you.
And sure enough they closed in and took her,
Thus building her resentment:
But it’s all meant for you…
You really fucked up…
Living your life while my girl suffers with her Daddy issues.
