Fabled Love
Hahaha, I know that she still loves me regardless of what she says
She swears that she doesn't care, but she worries that I'm okay
She know certain things about me, things that know one else knows
And in return I hide her secrets carefully within my folds
But there is a limit to even the best of hearts and a second chance
Being left with emotions like Cinderella after the last dance
To have your spirits lifted, going to the ball, and dancing with the prince
Then to have those same alarms go off about him, you were convince
Maybe the misery wasn't so bad, scouring all of the pans and the hearth
Lies revealed as lies, scrubbing until you saw someone else in that pot
Washing her dirty laundry and mine trying to clean me up
I realizes that love will always have an adversary that's corrupt
A milk maiden that gave what was most precious to her away in a hayloft
To a rake, a passerby, a field hand, or a sailor from down at the wharf
She didn't feel ripped off, she knew that she still had me to tarry with
I was that once in a life time opportunity, that escaped in a chariot
But I was hers at her will, she left a glass slipper to add to the thrill
Knowing that her prince in waiting though unreliable wouldn't just chill
Always faithful to come running back but ever so full of lies
I wouldn't be faithful this time, swearing no more betrayals and lies
From her tower her trust was lowered to me again and again
And I the rake, passerby, field hand, and sailor betrayed her again
But she's no Snow White asleep and waiting on her Prince Charming
She knows what she has in me and everything that's alarming
So every once in awhile, when she feels the need, she signs in
Different avatars and poems by her reminds me of way back when
When as a big bad wolf I was able to maintain her heart
But now like Rumpelstiltskin, I lay in wait begging to play a part
She swears that she doesn't care, but she worries that I'm okay
She know certain things about me, things that know one else knows
And in return I hide her secrets carefully within my folds
