Legendary

For whatever reason, in my past I couldn't see my destiny
She wrote lots of foreshadowing into our plot, but I still couldn't see
Yes lots of warning were given, but I blinded myself by never being there
The need to steel myself against missing her or longing to stroke her hair

But by barely being there and hardening my emotions, I blurred my sight
I couldn't see or hear the tears, I couldn't feel the tossing and turning at night
So much pain being endured, there were so many decisions she was trying to make
Just how much would it take for me to care, just how much more could she take

How many more tears before the dam breaks
Before her core quakes or before the darkness over takes
To be in love at times could be the ending of your world
Pain buried after winding really tight, clawing it's way to the surface and then unfurls

The one thing about the darkness and it's pain is that it's contagious
By the time awareness struck me, the depths that I'd fallen were outrageous
Hanging by finger tips from a ledge after falling into a bottomless pit
Continuously reaching for your salvation before realizing you were no longer wasting it

Meanwhile I can't see the light or find hand and feet holes to climb back out
You are the reason that I find myself here, of that I have no doubt
Mentally our rolls have been flipped, I was the servant that you commanded
Why did you leave me hanging when I was everything that you demanded

But our friends chose sides, I was left with barely enough to survive
There was no one left to attend to my wounds or check if I was alive
The only ones left were the naysayers, my own personal doomsayers
Constantly reminding me on this ledge that you were my only prayer
