Why He Left

Why He Left

She made sure
she had everything
under control.

Every day.
Every detail.
Every nuance.

She wanted
to be disciplined.
To be taught.
To be told.
To be molded.
To be held

in a plane
of safety
from herself
so secure
that no ghosts
could find her.

But
behind her rituals
of tv,
video games,
reruns,
social media,
birthday greetings,
friends in need,
family events,
school activities,
work load time,
loveless lovers,
transportation,
illnesses,
ablutions,

and an endless array
of time stealing events
and vices
that kept her
in an irrational state
of a fear
of the loss
of control,

she stayed
so spun out
that she
never had time
to respect others,

and so
she was never able
to bring herself
an ounce
of time,
a ray
of light

to ever concede
and submit
a nano spec
of herself
even
for inspection.

She never had room
for a dominant
in her life.

And that was why
he left her.
