I want it

I think it's the diminishing drum beat....
Listening to the heart of it as sound....
Also....this is that very human moment of our questioning our own inner guidance. Nothing spells human being like self-control and attaining a moment of self-discipline.
So, both in structure and in content, the context has that exit point in narrative theory that questions evolution. Discrimatory faculties ask whether animals will become more than they were. You pack a big punch in a small space. This is fine wood working.
