I enjoy a subtle treat,
But no glazed donuts for me
Since with an overwhelming sweet
My troubled guts will disagree,
By buds if taste too fairly warned,
To avoid at any cost,
Or be much less sugar adorned
Like cereal without the frost!
And think as well about your teeth
Or acrid candy aftertaste
Whereto the tongue, it will bequeath,
A wish for brush and minty paste
That gives all our corrupted breath
A balm forestalling oral death.
But no glazed donuts for me
Since with an overwhelming sweet
My troubled guts will disagree,
By buds if taste too fairly warned,
To avoid at any cost,
Or be much less sugar adorned
Like cereal without the frost!
And think as well about your teeth
Or acrid candy aftertaste
Whereto the tongue, it will bequeath,
A wish for brush and minty paste
That gives all our corrupted breath
A balm forestalling oral death.
