On Faith & Cognac
Believe in yourself
and faith will follow.
Every faith needs a belief
but every belief
doesn't require faith
for its truth to pass.
Every cognac is a brandy,
but not
all brandy is a cognac.
I find nothing wrong
with having
faith in both spirits.
But where belief is a brandy,
let us have faith
that its Remy Martin.
Yet praying that someone
will buy me a bottle
of LOUIS XIII doesn't
come to fruition, it never has.
But believe me, straight-up;
I'm ready with my snifter glass.
and faith will follow.

Discussing differences between faith & belief here. Maybe I should throw a little hope in there cause hope is what I'm made of. Hope is good but you have work it well. Lol

It’s subtle, but in that last phrase you give us glimpse of it,
Hope is that something better is coming, or that you can make it better.

The finest of the cognac, yes sir we do deserve that glass. So funny: I was writing about butterflies the other night, as it was storming, and creating a story about faith in trying to understand these differences. Me worried about the butterflies during the tornado that passed. Have faith I reminded myself. And then along came the thoughts on cognac - as for a nectar perhaps. 😆

The difference between Faith and Belief. A good question. I'd imagine a lot of people dwell on it all the time. I certainly do. My pithy two cents? Belief is for facts. Faith is for Spirit.
Here, a poem about faith for you:
for the Hope
for the Heart of Hope
of Hope of Heart
And also a polemical, attempting to be scathing diatribe, about fact:
Outside of the speech of semantic philosophers, nationalists, politicians, advertisers, policy advisers, narcissists, or the religiously nutted, facts are pretty much universally held to be found best rooted in the material world. Science. Yet sadly, even the most clear cut and indisputable of facts is fungible in just about someone's mind (if they try hard enough, Re: flat-earthers). Cold, hard, incontrovertible fact— As civilization will advance the humans are there still a lot of nutters out there, and Faith confused as fact in the minds of a nutter is a dangerous thing.
Outside of science though there is yet one more category of facts, facts applicable only ever to the single individual: experiential knowledge. And this is where the lines between Faith and Belief begin to bleak, merge, and/or weave (braid!) together.
Experiential knowledge is never universal, but it is nonetheless, for the experiencer, fact. Many ideas can be conceived about the experience of acid tripping by those who have done so. The experiential facts behind hallucinatory experience of any kind, same and in like kind as the experiential facts behind spiritual experience, is true and incontrovertible to the experiencer *so long* as the experiencer holds them to be So. But they can only ever apply to the single individual who experiences the event. Same as magic.
Now, along those same lines, but talking about about the semantics of *Historical* “fact”...
