Oh dear! How easily the ego bruises
When a greater talent starts showing off
An appreciation for the muses
Divorced from academic Boomer scoff.
Unable to adopt a dulcet tone,
Due to a glut of cultural frets,
The conventional soul is all alone
In a Phantom Zone of ancient regrets,
And Incapable of anything new.
Pitiful indeed is the old trickless dog
Forever vomiting old dumpster spew,
Or wallowing, as an old hateful hog
In the clutches of rhetorical hell;
Impotent...against the Faustian spell.
