Head north in the morning
Beyond the reach of work and worries
Passing old houses sprawling hillsides
That look too close to home
Waterfalls on either side of passing storms
Rotten barns slowly returning to the
Encroaching forests in empty pasture
Forgotten and overgrown
Cottonwood and Holly stands
Row after perfect row
Evergreens and willow buds
Dewy grass in floodplains
Flowers crowding out the drains
Cross the river at the bend
Cross again at the mouth
Make the loop
Head south past the obelisk as the day ends
Beyond the reach of work and worries
Passing old houses sprawling hillsides
That look too close to home
Waterfalls on either side of passing storms
Rotten barns slowly returning to the
Encroaching forests in empty pasture
Forgotten and overgrown
Cottonwood and Holly stands
Row after perfect row
Evergreens and willow buds
Dewy grass in floodplains
Flowers crowding out the drains
Cross the river at the bend
Cross again at the mouth
Make the loop
Head south past the obelisk as the day ends
