Blossoming Petal

you cannot cage a butterfly just as you cannot force the rose

With gossamer wings to carry me on ethereal notions of hope, love, grace;

beauty

I used to envy you, now I enjoy your splendor

Monarch dance on my fingertips, I understand you

Years ago a vulture veiled himself as a sparrow, He could not understand the beauty in the flutter and the flight, so he pecked away leaving a hole in her wing

In remembrance of what was, and what never could be or never should have been

I wear the winged collar I gave to myself, to remind me of the cage I did not belong in

Petals crimped, bundled, the bud so tightly wound

The perfume so intoxicating waiting to allure you, you want to press your fingers against the velvet petal, you want to discover before the universe says it's time to unfold

Open the rose on your own?

You will bruise the bloom and spoil all that could be

Never try to cage something wild and free

Never try to change what already formed years before you

Let the rose unfold slowly, it will be far more beautiful that way
