And now what? (NaPoWriMo 2022 #30)
Month's end.
And yet
it doesn't feel like an end.
Well, sure,
it's not the end end,
the final breath before
what exactly?
Yet even a month end
this closing
should surely
bring some satisfaction?
Some catharsis,
some peace
some serenity.
Yet instead,
I am restless.
It as though
I have walked across a desert
and having reached
the shore and sea
I rage at the fading sands
and refuse the transition.
Unsatisfied
by the chapter's closure,
too wound up
in the original
to accept the sequel.
And so it ends,
but I find no release,
like a song on repeat
it goes on
it goes on,
but relief evades.
It ends
yet still things go on.
And yet
it doesn't feel like an end.
Well, sure,
it's not the end end,
the final breath before
what exactly?
Yet even a month end
this closing
should surely
bring some satisfaction?
Some catharsis,
some peace
some serenity.
Yet instead,
I am restless.
It as though
I have walked across a desert
and having reached
the shore and sea
I rage at the fading sands
and refuse the transition.
Unsatisfied
by the chapter's closure,
too wound up
in the original
to accept the sequel.
And so it ends,
but I find no release,
like a song on repeat
it goes on
it goes on,
but relief evades.
It ends
yet still things go on.
