My Eavesdropping Mom - Poem from my daughter
We became like innocent animals bound in our seeking.
All of eternity was captured in that moment
and the few seconds after.
Our childish cries were the only sounds from my darkened room.
Would the shadow in the hallway hear in our voices
pleasure or pain?
I knew she stood quietly there in honor of our joining.
I wondered if she felt something of my pleasure.
A single chime from her bedroom welcomed the new day,
and I wondered what of this matters and what will last.

Would the shadow in the hallway hear in our voices
