Twigging Together
In the beginning
our learning to live
to love one another
a plethora of “ No’s”
spoken aloud
loudly.
Mom’s cat (Kitty)
knew only inside and boredom
before She came to me
came to be my part-time
outdoor companion.
So many antonyms
to an affirmative
a constant in our onset
each vying for control
for dominance.
She may have been
wondering
while wandering
where all Her “Yesses”
were though daily
I assure
many are on
the way.
Double checking me
Kitty meow’s at me
Constantly everyday
Sometimes for hours
On end.
I no longer say no
Just meow in return
Or tell Her
“it’s not time”
Noisiest cat I’ve ever met
