Dark Domain

Though some may wend their way, in heartfelt prose and verse
They should look around them, at a world, under a devil's curse
For the flock is without a shepherd, for there are no gods above
With no one to protect them, from an iron fist, in a velvet glove

And if you're there, a special one, amongst the bustling throngs
You're as ethereal as a memory and unable to right the wrongs
Mayhap your invisible way is righteous, but what thrives is pain
As the silent masses, bow obedient heads, in their dark domain

There's a path they tread, to the nowhere, of the haunted hollow
But trapped in their unreality, it's where they're forced to wallow
And though unfettered souls may soar, to find an alternative fate
They know, they're lost, behind imaginary lines and can't escape

In idyllic reveries, there's solace, but the dream will fade and die
For in an unbalanced paradigm, whimsical words, will not apply
From an ocean's roar, to the rolling hillside, or even a sleepy dell
There's so much beauty, that may bewitch, but it's a devil's spell

Within each shimmering, eternal summer, of an everlasting day
There are always shadows cast, upon a path, of a different way
So listen to the enrapturing birdsong, above, as if it's not in vain
And keep it hidden in your heart, but afar, from the dark domain
