Battle of the Eagle and the Bear

The situation in Russia is having an international global effect, because of Russia’s political campaign and looming threat against countries near its borders that were formerly part of the Soviet Union as a whole. One country in particular, Ukraine, located on the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov has been in turmoil over the past several months because of the pro-Russian separatists. This includes government takeovers of Ukrainian governmental facilities, the dismantlement of several police districts and the defection of many Ukrainian military which stated by Thomson Reuters includes a “Ukrainian paratrooper division out of Dnepropetrovsk, and an armored tank squad in Kramatorsk” (Reuters), demonstrating their intent to become part of Russia once more. Minor armed skirmishes have put Ukraine on the verge of a complete Russian takeover without a single major military offense.  In opposition to Russia’s involvement in Ukraine affairs The United States, France, Canada, Germany, and many NATO allied countries condemn Russia’s actions, threatening Russia with economic sanctions or military force. However, major powers like China, India and others including South Africa, Syria, Brazil, Venezuela and Columbia, feel Russia should be left alone to handle their own matters without any western, democratic, ideological interference. In all honesty, we cannot and should not dictate rules and regulations on how Russia is to conduct their own affairs, within and on their own borders. When truthfully we need focus upon the many problems that plague our own country like an uncontrollable disease.
The United States foreign policy has been in an up and down state of disarray with positive moments overshadowed by negative ones. Since 1945 the United States has attempted to overthrow 50 governmental bodies, interfere in over 30 countries elections, targeted civilian populations which were said to be military installations and attempt political assassination of world leaders (Pilger), when publicly and in their governmental laws they forbid such unethical acts. But along with their NATO allies they have modified a better humanitarian approach, an economic sanction which could be considered the new age assassination. A slow strangulation of a country denying it foreign trade, and isolating it from the entire world, putting hardships on innocent men, women and children and pressure on the country’s leader to do right and get in line by the worlds standards. The problem with that is that many countries in the world don’t agree. China and India two countries who economic growth has grown considerably over the last 10 years has warned the United States and its NATO allies about enforcing economic sanctions and their form of Democracy against Russia, with both countries refusing to participate, stating that the Russian situation dealing with Ukraine is an internal affair.
The pressure of economic sanctions will only turn Russia’s eye elsewhere for economic finance, and with its nuclear technological inventory, countries around the world without it and desperately wanting it would have an increased supplier. Something the United States and its NATO allies need to think about, a nuclear level playing field where every country has a piece of the radioactive doomsday cake with explosive candles to light. Another fact that the United States and its NATO allies seem to forget is that Russia supplies the Ukraine with natural gas and in turn Ukrainian factories supply a majority of that gas to many countries in Eastern Europe, several of those countries who are pushing for economic sanctions against Russia itself. Russia having one-third of the world’s natural gas, over twenty percent of the entire world’s oil supply and the world’s largest supplier of gold, zinc, iron ore, salt, chalk, diamonds and limestone, economic sanctions would have little impact.
If Texas wanted to separate from the United States and become its own independent country, would the United States tolerate Russian Warships and submarines to patrol off the Texas coast within the Gulf of Mexico or Russian troops on U.S. soil to assist the Texas military to protect their borders? No. The United States would be furious, ready to pursue military action, because foreign troops within the United States borders would be considered an insult, a slap in the face to U.S. pride and security. And if the United States feels that way about their homeland then consider how Russia feels about theirs. The same as other countries that have been invaded by the United States and its NATO allies from minor covert missions to full scale war. Just because the U.S. and its NATO allies have the ability to do it does not mean you do. One thing it seems the United States and its NATO allies do not consider or take seriously is that Russia will fight back, has many military capabilities as those of the United States and even if Russia lost the possibility of war; devastating, apocalyptic damage would reign across the United States and many other countries that were involved. On the scale of possible nuclear war where there would be no winner, only survivors.
Many of the Ukrainian people want to be annexed back into the Russian nation and have shown it on several disturbing levels, with Crimea being is a living testimony to the fact. From the denouncing and not recognizing the Ukrainian government, civilians blocking the Ukrainian military when they attempt to take back lost Ukrainian government and military sites and in some situations fighting their own military. Overall this form of rejection demonstrates that the United States and its NATO allies that this is a fight they should not stick their political nose in and view from a distance. All the signs show that a civil war is coming to the Ukrainian home front with unknown consequences and if it does the Unites States and its NATO allies need to be very careful not to spark it into the next World War.
