The Haunting Of Tituba (The Awakening IV Of IV)
Salem Village, Massachusetts
March 1962
The Salem Witch Trials of Tituba, Sarah Good, and Sarah Osborne
Presiding Judge; Judge Hawthorne
Sarah Good
The villagers know me as Sarah Good, I am homeless, my mind is unstable and questionable, but if I could
I will never practice witchcraft, no one in this village ever would
Sarah Osborne
I was falsely accused
I will never cause anyone Injure or abuse
Tituba
She is lying, I tell ya des two women I seen twisted bodies, howls heard from da mouths
In that book I see da picture with the man in black, thays two are witches no doubt
They are under the devil’s spell to do this village and dis town evil things
In the nighttime, spooks, and spells to make all seem real as it may seem
I was told to serve the black dog
And I seen them with da wings and flapping like a hog
The man in black told me to hurt then children
But I told him I will not doe his bidding that when I make da cake with thays urine
Sarah Good
She is lying, to this court, and her story, everyone is buying
I am not a witch… I was hoping you would have heard that from Tituba
I know my heart, and Tituba and Sarah Osborne shows no love
Tituba will take the souls of everyone who sits here
And keep them and sacrifice by the blood of da deer
To covet the soul like an animal
Sarah Good did you cause an evil hand upon Abagail Williams Elizabeth Betty Parris
To bring you to stand accuses in your defense and a reminder as an embarrass
No, I doth no harm to anyone
I believe in life as the moon and the sun
Sarah Osborne
I have much to lose and I have been a long upstanding person at hand
And to be accused of a something of this, and dragged in front of everyone for a false reprimanded
There has never been a cause for me to place my hands upon anyone’s child
I walk quietly and never known to speak too loud
Anna Putnam has said you pinched her and you tried to get her to write her name in this...this book
Would she had been protected by the devil if she did take a look
I does not know what you speak about
I own land and, in the village, I am fair, even though I have no clout
Tituba
I doe see the four women of sinfulness me eyes shielded from the other two
They made a pact with this man in black, and thays will hurt me if I did not see the curses through
Sarah Good and Sarah Osborne
Would have to kills thays children and leave thays parents forlorn
Me seen des two with hoods on as daylight shone from the dark skies
I have the power to silence the tongue and make them all die
To contort thay body at my summoning with whispered words, and blind thays eyes
I told da man in black to let ole master live
One day, he has to get on his knees to forgive
But the man in black said he will come for me
And take me breath in me sleep
I put curse on the house where we all lay our head
From the flour, herbs baked in the bread
No more conjuring evil I leave’s dem bones dead
I am Tituba the witch
Me do what da calling tells me, in da dark I foresee, once the down flip of the light switch
