A Clamor of Silence

A Clamor of Silence

She had
A way
Of creating
A need
To speak,
But she
Rarely said
Anything
At all.

The night
Before a date,
She would
Call a man,
Get drinks,
Head to
A hotel
And have him
Indulge himself
While his wife
Waited
At home.

The date
Itself
Would be
A forgone
Conclusion.

Of course,
He would
Want her.

Of course,
In due course,
They would
Fuck
Like they
Were making
Love,

Only she
Had been
Satisfied,
And this....

Was about
Observing
His need
For her,
His shameless,
Yet pitiful
Desire,
Weak
And wretched.

She drenched
Herself
In his worship
Of her.

Her talons
Held his heart,
A bird
Of prey,
Osprey
Perhaps,
As she carried
His limp
Carcass
To the grave yard
Of defeat.

The next night,
Another,
Virile
And repugnant,
No gentleman
To be sure,
To give her
The satisfaction
Of dismissing
Him,
Worthless,
Puny,
Galvanized.
