Yellow butterfly , were you once a buttercup

Yellow butterfly dancing in the sky
you are like buttercups away from the green grass
buttercups smiling with with wings
dancing in the blue breeze

yellow butterfly dancing
have you once been a pretty buttercup
sitting on a gentle stem
and cushions of grass
speaking softly to your dress of sunshine petals

maybe the butterfly was envious of the yellow sun one day
whilst she lived in a rosey coloured pink
she wanted a change
and live in a colour of a different hue for one day

yellow butterfly
where have you been
where are you now
flying the sky
In mountains of joy
when once you were
a buttercup smiling on the grass

have you been a different colour before
maybe orange
red or purple
or you’ve simply been a buttercup sitting on the grass
like a caterpillar
waiting and waiting to turn into a butterfly
with a lovely sense of friendly freedom
