I Choose the Better
As I fantasize in fireworks
The passion of our love
Blazing blue and white
Through well-etched memory chasms
in my mind
I recall:
‘“tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all”
(Or been loved)
Tennyson wrote true
For if I’d never known the love of you
I’d never hold this precious wealth:
The image of your eyes
Seeing through my heart,
The comfort of your touch,
The taste of you tasting me,
The melding of our beings
Intertwined heart in heart
Lust in lust
pulsing through the universe
Freezing time…
I would preserve
This heartache of longing
Through decades more
to hold these richest memories
close
The passion of our love
Blazing blue and white
Through well-etched memory chasms
in my mind

Than never to have loved at all”
