A Dream Half-Remembered

Life is so far behind me.
I can not see anything.
I try to find inside my mind.
Some truth behind it all.

Storm winds creep in and find me.
So hard to stand this half-dream.
I can't remember if it's real.
These secrets it reveals.

There's no correct path backward.
I cannot see the last word.
I can't hear the reason for it all.
Going forward.

This goal of mine is absurd.
I'll only get myself hurt.
Looking through this dream.
Half-remembered.

Wake up, dead child, show your face.
This is the night of our race.
I can't believe it's all a dream.
What does this vision mean?

Clockwork, gears turn, an hourglass.
Burned to ashes, it ends at last.
Is this a nightmare or a sign?
Is this part of a grand design?

There's no correct path backward.
I cannot see the last word.
I can't hear the reason for it all.
Going forward.

This goal of mine is absurd.
I'll only get myself hurt.
Looking through this dream.
Half-remembered.

Bring me back to my senses someone.
Please hold me on to the ground.
Before I fly away in this storm.
This nightmare's purpose must be found.

There's no correct path backward.
I cannot see the last word.
I can't hear the reason for it all.
Going forward.

This goal of mine is absurd.
I'll only get myself hurt.
Looking through this dream.
Half-remembered.
