Dust Bowl Lovers
Dust Bowl Lovers
Dust devils dance for rain
Her mason jar moxie
Turns pears into preserves
That can his worries
Of the lean season
With irrigation by a nearby river
Whose water will fill the rows
Of wheaten Lazarus
With her kitchen cornucopia
No mere manna
But an earthly sustenance
To fuel the labor he loves
But when she needs his touch
To fill the lonely hours
That shorten her breath
He lends his steel to her softness
Like a knight in the midst of chivalry
Whose creative anachronism
Is the heat that unseals
Her marmalade soul
Dust devils dance for rain
Her mason jar moxie
Turns pears into preserves
That can his worries
Of the lean season
With irrigation by a nearby river
Whose water will fill the rows
Of wheaten Lazarus
With her kitchen cornucopia
No mere manna
But an earthly sustenance
To fuel the labor he loves
But when she needs his touch
To fill the lonely hours
That shorten her breath
He lends his steel to her softness
Like a knight in the midst of chivalry
Whose creative anachronism
Is the heat that unseals
Her marmalade soul
