Life is full of pleasure
And pain as well
Sometimes you're in Heaven
Sometimes you're in hell
Everybody at some point
Gets hurt or deceived
Making us feel foolish
For what we believed
Some call it being weak
Maybe it makes you strong
To be able to endure
So much for so long
Look in the mirror
The beauty you see outside
Is the reflection
Of your beauty inside
In times when you feel
Your desires won't come true
Remember there's somebody out there
Looking for someone like you
Even if your heart is broken
In time, it will heal
And one day you will find
A love genuine and real
And pain as well

Author's Note
A poem written for my ex-girlfriend's cousin from years ago. She always tried to do the right thing in her relationship. She had the hardest time believing the downfall wasn't her fault. Eventually, she did come to realize that it takes the effort of both to make a relationship work.
