There IS No Love

There IS No Love

Were it real,
then surely by now
I would not still be longing
my aching..would not still be
echoing down the
corridors of my lonely heart
Were..it real
then I would not know
the acuteness of such sweet sorrow
that it weakens me..down unto
the very marrow of my bones...
Causing me irrational fears
Of forever...being alone...
Surely,if Love were real
Then the sickness I suffer
from watching 2 lovers,neck
in the park
Would not leave me mortaly
wounded as I am....open,
and exposed....on display
while Lovers say "Here in
Lies the Lady in Waiting "
While my desire is all
but salivating,
while I
thirst,and hunger for
more than an apetizer
of tofu-like proportions
It taste like love
It looks like love
But it isnt.
How unpleasant is this treachery
Insidiously haunting me
Acosting my dreams,always
taunting me ....whispering
Whispering
For me not to loose hope
Whispering.... "You must believe"
For if I forfeit not my faith
Believing also In A Love as yet
Unseen
I am only a replica of my former self
hollowed by the tides of time
and so in this I am resigned
There IS no Love in this lifetime
for me.

Hey Firebyrd. This IS like you and then again it isn't.
What's real is the message. I can feel your need, your disappointment, your longing.
What ISN'T you is the 'Olde Englishe' vernacular. Student's error number one - to think because 'that's what they taught you in school - so that's what poetry should sound like'. This is not how you speak so why try to express yourself this way? You've also fallen into the trap of using clichees like 'the empty corridors of my heart' , 'such sweet sorrow' and the like.
The edit below is therefore far more artistically intrusive than my usual. It attempts to clear out all the stuff which seems to have infiltrated from your old school books but leave the essential message of your disillusionment and longing. I offer it with the usual apologies and respect. Hope you find something in it. Red.

brittles my bones...

in the park
would not leave me mortally
wounded like it does....open,
and exposed....on display
While my desire is all
