Driving on unlit Berkshire roads
I wonder what these massholes think of
my bumper sticker. Then I wonder
why they stopped putting ashtrays in cars.
They’re asking what has happened tomorrow.
I am telling you, I already told
you, I am certain. I certainly
got gas before I hit state lines, I certainly
haven’t died yet clutched in the talons
of a big black bird, certainly
haven’t died yet my heart staked up
on a lawn arms tacked up like a banner
on a garage door kicked shut closed for good and ever.
This year, I will to keep my eyes open.
