Pluck a loose feather
Prepare me for flight
Pretty little Sneak
In the dawning of night

But extinguish the light
Shield the rehearsal 
From all prying eyes

Kiss of the flame
A Dirty little secret
Touch behind the curtain

Reach out on a limb
Step onto the stage
Take a breath, a quick bow
My audience awaits 

I climb to the top
Of the pendulous swing
While you write my name

Performing a Tragedy 
A one woman act
Calling out for direction
But it echoes right back

Your voice screams Toxicity!
Atop my emptied lungs
Set upon the shelf
Like I'm swearing off drugs

Voice box cut open
Nothing left to bear the screams
Careful step mistaken
Between the balance beams 

Disappointed. Unmasked. 
I can't even hide. 
Played my heart out

Twist and twirl backwards
In a dance I have forgotten
Tap dancing like a fool
Clumsy steps begotten
