false witness

satan confesses his deception

i.
[narrator]
lo, he hath made the truth
into a lie!
in innocence of youth,
God's children die.
thus, death the enemy
of mortal man,
a great controversy
makes of God's Plan.

ii.
[satan]
"ye shall not surely die,
but be as gods,
to rule earth's canopy
with iron rods.
open your eyes, evil
and good behold!
do as you damn well will;
freedom is gold.

iii.
"when i was king of heavn's
sweet angel band,
to me were all rights giv'n,
with stretched-out hand,
to rule one inch below
my Master's Pow'r --
my pride dealt such a blow;
i must have more!

iv.
"the earth is mine, with all
its emptiness --
the fullness of man's fall,
i must confess!
the world and they that dwell
within its gates
must sink with me and swell
with bitter hates."

v.
[narrator]
an adam damned, an eve
deceived, a race
disgraced:  thus all men grieve,
standing abase.
the debt of death, naught worse
than satan's lie:
let him who stands perverse
repentant, cry.
