Hell of Earth
Life it seems to fade away, drifting further every day
the people so helpless, this world is becoming faithless
torture and suffering, fills my mind with all cruel madness
hatred does thrive in life, a world of ignorance, nevertheless!
the world apart is falling and no, it’s not nature calling
it is the thorn that’s within, losing control, the fading begins
getting lost within myself, nothing matters no one else
emptiness creeps, agony fills, darkness grows and life is gone!
surrounded by deadly loss, hell of earth and i can’t take how it feels!

Enjoy the good insight into the nature of suffering, and what you call "hell on earth."
Good observations:
people care little beyond each one's, his own self--
to be concerned with self pushes others out of concern;
this is suffering;
why not go into other sources of our suffering? resentment, ingratitude?
This is a great topic, and one I don't see addressed in art enough--that many of our sufferings relate to spiritual problems: self-centeredness (as you mention); but also these other issues.
