Valentine Sunset
Just dazzling, you know the kind
when the street lamps shine all white and innocent
against a shimmering blue, twilight fading into the passion
of violet and red into orange, the colours of burning
burning a heart on fire and black spires
defining old, old stories pointing upwards
my eyes follow, you your hot hand in your pocket
holding mine, as if we were a valentine couple
not standing alone addicted to watching and abstinence
praying to grow wings to fly beyond higher spires
rest in the the sound, you've your feet for walking
across the town down to the river and now while the sun sets
who will you love if not me ?
