Promises of Peace
The crescent moon lights my way
A silver sliver that leads me astray
In the distance a lulling sound reaches my ear
"Shhh" it tells me "Sleep now Dear"
I have yet to reach the place where I may sleep
The place where I will lay my soul to keep
A little closer I venture, watched by my moon
The lullabies grow so loud I begin to swoon
Promises of peace in this empty land
Promises of dreams lay in my hand
Lit by moonlight, I stand bare
The precipice before me demanding its fare
A small price to pay I must admit
All I must do is forget and submit
The winds whistle and rustle my hair
They ask me "Will you chance, will you dare"
So close to sleep, close to peace
I have nothing, save sweet release
A silver sliver that leads me astray
In the distance a lulling sound reaches my ear
"Shhh" it tells me "Sleep now Dear"
I have yet to reach the place where I may sleep
The place where I will lay my soul to keep
A little closer I venture, watched by my moon
The lullabies grow so loud I begin to swoon
Promises of peace in this empty land
Promises of dreams lay in my hand
Lit by moonlight, I stand bare
The precipice before me demanding its fare
A small price to pay I must admit
All I must do is forget and submit
The winds whistle and rustle my hair
They ask me "Will you chance, will you dare"
So close to sleep, close to peace
I have nothing, save sweet release
