A Forest and Me

a castle, a river
a forest, a time
when days were forever
and everything rhymed

the rhythm of waking
then spending the day...
we were just children
but we couldn't stay -

older and older
never as young
time felt like more than
when we had begun

eventually ending
what seemed to go on
forever and ever,
the place we belonged...

'suffer the children
to come unto me'
said Father Christmas
invisibly

promising goodness
and love from the heart...
now we're much older
and so far apart

from when we were children,
when we had begun,
relearning what we knew
that all is just one

endless forever
now coming to be
an ocean, a mountain
a forest and me...
