The Bonds We Share

How long are we going to do this? How long can we take not being around one another? The pain and anger is drawn over our shoulders like a warm coat in the middle of a winter storm. Waking from this life as if it were a dream only to realize my nightmares are better than the reality that we are all forced to live in. The realization that no matter how things go within our family our lives will never be more complete than they were those years ago.

Seeing my brother being played with like a yo-yo. His heart strings being plucked like the soft strums of a harps cords. Leaving me helpless to help him because he refuses to see that which is beyond his own eyes.

Another Brother fights for his life and the lives of his friends and family everyday without the support of the arms of the three he formed a bond of brotherhood with. His sorrow and loneliness reaches my heart from across the vast expanse of the oceans and stings me as a wasp to an unsuspecting insect.

The last of my brothers curls behind the fake smiles and laughter he puts forth to keep us all cheerful even at the expense of his own happiness. His heart yearns for another to be beside him to keep him warm at night. Their arms to wrap around himself and let go of all the pain he holds in his heart. But he too has awoken from his nightmares to find that many of them are a much happier place than the world in which we live.

The three of them in their own kinds of pain and naivety make the possibility of losing you more raw and painful. The future may yet hold a great deal of things for us but to say that we cannot go down those roads together is something that makes my heart ache and stomach turn just with the thought of it.

I don't know what this day or any of the next will bring to the doors of our hearts so that we may confront them head on. My only hope is that they bring better tidings than the lips of fate have already spoke to us in the past.
