Black Wings
Life would be much easier
If we were all angels-
No, not angels
that falls too close to religion
And I don't care for that
How about if we were harpies
Some mythical, winged creatures
Your true colors
Would be displayed
Open on your wings
For everyone to see
Some would be yellows
and blues, greens and reds
Fluttering brightly
They were the good ones
But me and my friends
With our crippled limbs
Would sit quietly
Numbly thinking of things
Living in shame
of our black wings
If we were all angels-
No, not angels
that falls too close to religion
And I don't care for that
How about if we were harpies
Some mythical, winged creatures
Your true colors
Would be displayed
Open on your wings
For everyone to see
Some would be yellows
and blues, greens and reds
Fluttering brightly
They were the good ones
But me and my friends
With our crippled limbs
Would sit quietly
Numbly thinking of things
Living in shame
of our black wings
