Arinke

Arinke; Obinrin Awelewa
Adara bi egbin; Orekelewa
Glowing like a morning star
Lightning my path till darkness 'part

Ifere ni o mu okan mi ro
And your sparkling smile filled my empty soul
Your shining teeth brightened my darkened day
Inu okan mi ni Ife re ngbe

The goddess are jealoused of your flowery beauty
And the gods are out there fighting and vowing for thee
Sango ntu ino; ogun nbinu
But even the devil himself can't separate me from you

I don't fear giants; not human-shark
I don't fear daemons roaming the street at night
In the face of our enemy; I won't get fright
I will be your shield till I breathe my last

Hold me tight; like a ghommid to its mat
Promise me that; we'll never be apart
Ti orun ba n ya; ti ile ba n rii
I promise; safely will your heart be with me

Emi ni ikarahun; iwo ni igbin
Adudumadan; omo-dara bi egbin
With beautiful eyes like the morning dew
Paradisal joy is what I feel when I look at you

Tie your Aso-Oke to Iro and Buba
Wo ileke sorun; like a queen that you are
And I'd be your king in a silky agbada
Both dress in King and Queen attire

Let us dance to Alafin Palace
and sing to him; our love-filled balad
Let him call his priests and chiefs
And in the face of Orunmila; bless our union with his horsetail-whisk
