But, evil reduces all that's splendid  
to its basest elements.  
 
Along with the richness in her mind,  
her humor, and kindness in her heart,  
she carried attributes that could satisfy  
the most primal urges in the most  
deceptive of humans.  
 
On a single careless night,  
she was pierced…  
pierced by a piece of lead  
manufactured to kill game with efficiency.  
She felt only the shock of sound as it passed the edge of her lovely skin and came  
to rest within a cavity never breached by violence or even a surgeon’s knife.
