Dreams of Love
The young widow sits under a willow tree
Branches reaching down, caressing the ground and touching her lonely cheek, whispering a secret in her ear
The soft grass she sits upon, being watered by her mournful tears
Letting the liquid seep into the ground, praying it will meet her husband's sleeping soul
Her hands run over the decorated stone, a sign of all she had and all she lost
As the pain becomes too much, she realizes how pathetic she is
Crying over a man, as she promised she would never do
She lets the tears fall and beats the ground with her fists
This is not a man, she reminds herself, this is a monster. A thief, a thief of innocence
How could one love such a creature?
Well, when you have nothing in your name
and no one in your heart
and the options are low
you settle for anything
and when the trash you were blessed with is gone
you again have nothing, but a drowning heart, dedicated to a pile of hollow dreams, buried beneath a willow tree
