ADVICE

In our twenties, we were wild and free.
We did the beast with two backs thing, with abandoned glee.
Then nine months later, things had changed,
our priorities, rearranged,
because us two, had become three.

It's not easy.  I'll tell you.
To raise a child at twenty-two.
So we tried hard.  we did our best.
Gamely facing every test.
Proudly watching as you grew.

We almost split, your mom and I.
But then decided, we had to try.
We worked at it for a good long while,
and still today, she makes me smile.
For we love each other.  Her and I.

So now my child, as you make your way.
Pay you heed, to the words I say.
If you stay:  strong, pure, and true,
a rich full life awaits for you,
if from this credo, you do not stray.

Now when you find whom you shall wed,
and lay close, in the marriage bed.
There will be trouble.  There will be strife.
That is not but, normal life.
Love your mate true, until you're dead.
