Warm Milk
Two hard boiled eggs, one sausage
A simple, delectable meal
Washed down with a splash of warm milk
Not everyone likes that appeal
Start with a nibble of this
Follow up for a nip of that
The sausage seems thick this morning
As I lap at the eggs like a cat
I touch my food with light fingers
Can't rush to savour each taste
Bask in the pleasant aroma
Rushing would be such a waste
The eggs weren't fully hardened
Warm liquid escaped to my tongue
Or was it the grease from the sausage
That oiled my lips, then it swung
I delicately balanced the meat
Parted my teeth for a morsel
It was greasy along its whole girth
Licked off to sample the core full
The fluid, so smooth as it slid down my throat
Consuming the sausage, near' most
Not willing to chew, 'stead I sucked on it slow
Full of gratitude now from my host
It gave him delight to only observe
Often I thought he would speak
But multiple gulps were all he let out
As I savored my meal to its peak
He begged me to please hurry up
Said that shortly would be time to go
So the rest of the sausage was soon in my mouth
And the warm milk started to flow
I licked my lips as I spied one last drop
Soon it was gone like the rest
Swallowed, but certainly not before,
It swirled 'round my gums with some zest
We are heading for a friend for lunch
A surprise is planned for supper
My breakfast may not be topped
But warm milk sure is an upper!
