I’ll be gone in the dark
won’t look before I leap into
the street bare bodied
I cannot be sure of my safety
under the empty sky
hidden under the porch
of my neighbour,
clasping hands together
over lips
hoping sirens
will halt at my home,
pull my family from danger
before I hear another scream.

Dear U,
Eeeeeekkkkkk! Frightful things sometimes are dreams. This was a thrilling nail biter for sure! I feel left with a cliff hanger and want to wake up with everyone safe in their beds! Then I want to go and have a huge breakfast. Intense write that leaves a lingering fear and a desire to keep looking over my shoulder 😉 well done.
