Image for the poem I wouldn

I wouldn't mind if this one gets degraded and hated

Do you know why we never seem to acknowledge how much we have in common,
But know what we have so different?
Because our Media select what we seeing
Riots, hatred, violence and everyone thinks they're the victim.

When was the last time you turned on a TV and saw a black man and white man hugging it out?
It's black lives matter, and all lives matter
The Morden segregation that none of us seem to figure out.

I wouldn't mind if this one gets degraded and hated
But the truth is, there's no black and white
It's us who select to see different with our perception
One large organ setting everyone apart, how many in common are we missing?

It's the culture and religion
All preaching their side of the story to anyone willing to listen.
It's politics and the system
All teaching us hate from when we were just children.

I personally don't hate whites
But if I publicly say that, they say I'm betraying my brothers and sisters
Degrading the truth and insulting our history.

From church this is what I was taught,
From school this is what I was taught
And this is fact
I wouldn't mind if this one gets degraded and hated.

But as long as you and I are located worlds apart
As long the system caters for some and leave the rest outside
Better schools, better education, better facilities catered for some
More reasons you and I never see eye to eye
As long as this persist, you and I are at war.

We claim we want to leave a better earth for our children,
But we fail to leave better children for the world
we still birthing babies with ideas of history
After so many years of experience and so called freedom
We still haven't gotten over racism,
We still fail to create victors but instead more victims.

Only when we move past black and white
Language, culture and religion
look towards the fabric of our biology
Look inside and see what we ignored when we selected to see differently
Celebrate the beauty of unity in diversity
That's only when we all be free and all be at peace.
I wouldn't mind if this one gets degraded and hated
