2. song for my father
dew-water man
encountering mornings
still half asleep
underneath
the sweat
of chilly nights.
cows and goats awaiting
the kiss of kind hands
before sunburst,
his august voice
enticing fallow ground
to feed the table
spread with hungry eyes
waiting
for a cheerful whistle
to come home
bearing
fruited blessings.

Ooh my gosh I love this! My grandad used go and get the eggs, and the milk from the cow. Clear all the fallen fruit from the ground.

I am seriously intrigued to see this coincidence! It does maketh world seem smaller. Singing or whistling, I suppose, is what keeps many a hard worker going, especially when times are tough.
