Sorrow

Time went by
just another day,
unaware
of the price to pay.

All seemed fine
life so kind,
no idea
she could change her mind.

Thought I held
the keys to that gate,
found I didn't
just too late.

Things not said
things not done,
then one day
she was gone.

Learned a lesson
what life brings,
when you just assume
you hold the strings.

Don't assume
don't take for granted,
you may regret
those seeds not planted.
