Choke-cherry
A potted plant, baring fruit
set aside
amongst the scattered weeds
Un-watered & wilted
this potted plant is doomed
Destined to be damaged
while it's ashes feed the poor
Slashing motions
untangle the strangling roots
all the parasitic partners
tumbling thru the Garden
pausing to stay a visit;
Till the dirt is all but gone
Knocked over & spilled
this potted plant
with broken limbs
Yearns to see the spring
& find it's place on Earth
Saved by loving hands
this rush of running water
Saturates the dreams
of baring fruit again
Nervously exposed
the shielded walls have been
Removed
Now, It's up to grace
to protect the fragile thoughts
as these roots begin to shrivel
In the air of dying light
Through sand & desert clay
a shallow grave awaits this plant
Face down on the cracking soil
In the embers of flaming dust
to the grasp of loving hands
Dowsed with lyfe's essentials
these roots reach out with blind acceptance
to begin another day
A potted plant, placed in sand
Rooted in clay
for a second chance
to be the Tree
we were meant to see
Baring fruit
for those in need...
