laughter like the rain
laughter soft and warm
like rain coming down
never taking form
soaking my gown
the sound splashes through my mind
this feeling I have is one of a kind
refreshed and free, I swear I could fly
the sound empties me of strife
almost upon the clouds I lie
distracted from my stressful life
her smile is kind and innocent
and from her there's a sweet-tart scent
like oranges and lemons, fruits not in season
her heart-melting eyes, a rich, deep brown
I look at her and lose all reason
and I can feel my walls break down
for no matter what I try, I can not hide
my love for her, so like the tide
nothing can stop it, or keep it still
everchanging, yet the same
everything else seems so little
with laughter like the rain.
